Our Story

We are a mother son team… a dynamic duo who have embraced the traditions we were born into. We walk independently and together in indigenous and curanderismo healing practices. Each of us brings different teachings and experiences wherever we go.

Our story is much like so many others. A young single mother raising a little boy in New Mexico. We had years of poverty, struggles and plenty of what we call “learning experiences”. Nights were a fearful race from the car to the trailer in one of the roughest neighborhoods in town. It was typical for the heat not to work or for there not to be any water. We were surrounded by domestic violence, drug addicts and gangs in every direction. Success sometimes was measured by moving to the next “less scary” trailer park. The goal to always work harder and improve our life was at the forefront. It’s the goal that brought us to Colorado.

In the 19 years we’ve been here, life has certainly changed. We’ve grown from where we came from but we haven’t forgotten. Our life experiences are the very reason we do the work we do. Our hope is to show others that it can be done and to provide services and teachings that can help others on their journey to find what they seek.

Together we have created classes, remedios and trouble (the good kind). This lead to the birth of Black Mesa Remedios. A lot of heart and soul goes in to everything we do. Our stories are the root of every product and we are both very passionate about every detail.

We definitely have separate lives but, you will often catch us together working in community, at social justice gatherings or just hanging out. You can sometimes catch us cutting up on Instagram “go lives” or in our classes. If you see us in the wild be prepared to laugh and join in on the fun. It’s never a dull moment.
